Class Review: barreBOUNCE at Cadence Studio Cycling + Fitness
Yes, I’ve already reviewed a class from this studio. BUT the one I reviewed was sort of my second choice. Because the one I really wanted was already filled by the time I signed up for a class. So I decided to book it farther in advance, even if it meant reviewing a fitness studio’s class more than once. Can you blame me?!
Right around the time I started looking for places to review, Cadence came out with a new class format called barreBOUNCE. It’s a mix of their barre and bounce class. Descriptions from their website for this class is:
Making use of individual trampolines, barreBOUNCE is designed to work your entire body and increase circulation, balance, and endurance! Class alternates time on the trampoline, barre, and mat for a highly efficient and effective workout. *note: trampolines safely support up to 250lbs
Disclaimer: I try really hard to keep my own opinions out of these reviews because what works for me might not work for you. I’m just here to give you an un-biased look at what a class entails and you can decide if it works for you. I want you to get out and EXPLORE Lexington - by sweating in it. That being said, I will always let you know what I thought of a workout if you ask me directly.

Since I’ve already talked about the studio itself in this post, I’ll move on to the part you probably care most about. ;)
Like the class description said, the exercises alternated between stuff on the trampoline and barre moves. We were on the rebounder pretty much the entire time, which made the normal barre moves slightly more difficult since you had to balance on the rebounder, so that was interesting!
Segments on the trampoline included moves such as: jumping jacks, heel taps while traveling clockwise and counterclockwise on the rebounder, punches to the right and to the left, froggers, lunges up from the ground onto the trampoline, etc.
Barre segments included: pulsing legs up, squatting while squeezing a ball between your legs, pulsing with your foot 45 degrees behind you, and pulsing with your leg directly behind you.
There was also an arm segment. I used two-pound weights and halfway through wish I had chosen the one-pound weights. It’s small movements but you literally don’t put your arms down for SO LONG. It buuuuuurrrrnnnns.
Lastly, there was a short abs segment. We squeezed a ball between our legs and laid on the rebounder. Then we did various versions of pulsing leg lifts. Overall, I hit every part of my body!
Like last time, the class size was small. There were only seven of us, although there were eight rebounders set up.
There seemed to be a lot of Beyonce and Destiny’s Child on the playlist this time. I think the instructor did that on purpose because she mentioned at the start of class that she was excited about it. None of the music was original stuff - it was all dance versions so it was more upbeat. This class depends less on the music than some formats, though. It was very hard to be all in sync when we were all jumping on the trampoline at different speeds!
People who love barre classes but want to get a bit sweaty, too.
